At the entrance of the Garden of Living Waters you can find an Italian stone pine. This tree was part of the original garden. Pine trees like this existed before flowering plants. It is a reminder that God's creation has been unfolding with perfect balance for eons, each season at a time. The Garden of Living Waters is the heart of the garden. Here the waterfall rises on the right under the pine tree. Large granite rocks climb and streams of water cascade over boulders, filling small catch pools, flowing into the clear still pond. This is a favorite place in the garden. White egrets have paused here. Hundreds of pilgrims have prayed here. The waterfall is a reminder of the great gift to humankind--the living water of God's love. Water signifies birth and the hope of a new life. Time moves very slowly here. The olive trees suggest acceptance and endurance. Ten months a year you can find flowers in bloom. All these colors call out for celebration! |
